Frequently Asked Questions

What is a social venture?

A social venture is a business that prioritizes a social mission alongside business success.  Cortree is a social venture of Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, providing educational products to a variety of audiences with the aim to help SCIO to diversify its revenue streams and achieve its mission of helping people with SCIs live the life they choose. All profits from our products are reinvested back to serving  SCIO’s programs and community.

When was Cortree founded?

Cortree was born in 2017, led by Tory Bowman, Managing Director, who together with Matthew Maynard (MBA) and SCIO CEO Dr. Stuart Howe,  built Cortree from an idea into the thriving social venture it is today.

Do you only cater to the spinal cord Injury community?

Not at all! Because Cortree was born from the expertise of SCIO, a lot of our content is on subjects that speak to living with a spinal cord injury. However, these experiences aren’t always unique to those with SCIs, and people with other disabilities may find our content helpful.

Additionally, we have a whole series of products that speak to health and disability related topics that impact organizations, non-profits, vendors, businesses and community service sectors. At Cortree, you’ll find something for everyone.

Why don’t I see prices listed on your website?

Here at Cortree, we aim to make sure the solutions we offer fit the needs of your organization. If you are interested in our products, we will start off with having a conversation with you to figure out what it is you need, and the best way we can help. Our pricing packages are built based on the number of users, length of term, and level of customization.

How often do you publish new courses?

Cortree is constantly in the process of creating new disability training material, and we most often have 2-3 projects on the go at any given time. While we usually have a pre-determined list of topics we are working on, we are always keeping our ears open to the needs of the greater community. If you don’t see what you are looking for here, don’t hesitate to reach out and start a conversation – we are always open to partnering on creating content!
