Evidence-Based Learning

When you or a family member is newly injured, there are sometimes more questions than answers. We’re here to help. We work with industry experts, health care pros, researchers, counsellors, disability specialists, and people with lived experience to create courses that are easy – and fun! – to take. Our content speaks to some of our communities most pressing concerns. From how to choose a wheelchair, to sex and disability, to modifying a vehicle, and much more, we’re here to help you live the life you choose.

Here are just a few of our many courses:

Choosing a wheelchair

There’s an art to choosing the right wheelchair, and a lot of science behind it too. We’ve brought it all together in one place so you can feel confident when it’s time to choose a wheelchair, whether it’s your first chair or you’re updating to a newer model.

Sex and disability

We’ve compiled everything you’ve always wanted to know about sex and disability. Well, maybe not everything. But a lot. And we’ve taken a no-nonsense, candid approach because the more you know, the better you feel. And feeling better is good.

Vehicle modification

If you’re thinking about taking the wheel after a change to your mobility, or are modifying a vehicle for someone with a disability, you’ll want expert, up-to-date information. There’s a lot to know about vehicle modification and there’s a lot riding on it. Like freedom.

Accessible Tech

Acessible Technology

This 25-minute course provides a great introduction to how smart home devices and smart device controllers can help make a home or workspace more accessible. Some of the kinds of smart devices covered in this course include lights, bulbs, plugs, door locks and much more!

Informal Learning – CortreeTV

There is no guidebook to living with a disability. We know that sometimes the best advice comes from those who have been there. These quick informational videos are grounded in the spirit of Peer Support and Independent Living, and created by our vibrant community members: people who get it, who know life with a disability inside out and are excited to share what they know with you. Watch, learn, share, and contribute.
